Route & destinations

Sailing south from St. Maarten, the Clipper glides through an ever-changing Caribbean landscape. Elegant harbors and sheltered bays give way to historic islands, volcanic scenery, and the lush green of Dominica. Along the way, there is plenty of time to swim, go ashore, or enjoy a local experience.

    • St. Barths: Swim in a sheltered bay, explore Gustavia, and optionally spend the evening ashore.

    • St. Kitts: Discover the island’s lush landscape and rich history, with Brimstone Hill as a potential highlight.

    • Montserrat: Experience how volcanic activity has shaped the island and discover the story of Plymouth.

    • Les Saintes: Enjoy the relaxed island life, swim or snorkel, and explore Terre-de-Haut.

    • Dominica: Cruise along the Indian River or discover the rainforest and volcanic nature on an island tour.

    • Martinique: Conclude your journey in Fort-de-France, amidst French-Caribbean culture and tropical greenery.

Sailing & Cruising

Sailing across the Caribbean Sea makes the voyage itself a central part of your journey. The favorable trade winds on this route offer ideal conditions to cover great distances under full sail. You are warmly invited to help the crew on deck, take the helm, and truly experience the ship in action—though you are equally welcome to simply relax and take in the views.

As evening approaches, the Clipper often seeks out a quiet, sheltered bay to anchor. Take a refreshing swim in the sea, go snorkeling directly from the ship, or enjoy a drink on deck while our chef prepares dinner or a deck barbecue. It is the perfect blend of sailing adventure and onboard comfort and hospitality.

All guests are obliged to have a valid passport with them on board Clipper Stad Amsterdam.

Always inquire about the rules for the validity period of your passport for the country you are traveling to. In many countries, a passport is required to be valid for several months beyond the date of entry/departure.

VISUM
It is crucial and your own responsibility to check and arrange visa requirements for the countries you are traveling to and traveling from.

The best way to determine if you need a visa to enter a specific country is by contacting the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

For the French side of Sint Maarten (Saint-Martin), a valid passport is required. Please ensure your passport remains valid for at least six months beyond your return date; national ID cards are not accepted.

Additionally, you are required to register your trip in advance via the official Sint Maarten government website.

Our ship is equipped with satellite technology to provide Wi-Fi connectivity during your journey. The shipping company offers 200 MB of data per person per day for sending and receiving data. Please note that the connection may be slower compared to onshore services.
If you require additional data, you can purchase an extra 200 MB package for €20.
Keep in mind that depending on the ship’s course, there may be times when the satellite signal is unavailable, and therefore, internet connectivity cannot be guaranteed.

Friends and family at home can always track the live location of the ship through our website (homepage).

HEALTH STATEMENT

When booking your voyage, we ask you to complete a health statement. If you indicate any medical conditions, medication use, or physical limitations, the ship’s doctor may contact you to discuss your situation.

If there is any doubt about whether participating is medically or physically safe, the ship’s doctor can advise the captain. The final decision on participation always rests with the captain. The vessel has a small sickbay on board. Please always inform the ship’s doctor as fully as possible about any relevant medical conditions and medications.

PHYSICAL FITNESS AND MEDICAL CERTIFICATE

Guests who are 75 years or older at the start of the trip must provide a valid maritime medical certificate.

During this voyage, the Clipper regularly anchors in bays. For shore transfers, we use a tender (dinghy). You will step in and out of the tender from a platform. Due to the movement of the ship, the tender, and the waves, this requires sufficient mobility, balance, and physical stability.

To safely participate in the voyage, you must be able to independently:

* Step over a threshold of approximately 60 cm (2 feet);
* Move around a moving ship;
* Step in and out of the tender from the platform, even with some swell.

A reasonable level of overall fitness and sufficient independent mobility are therefore essential.

DOCTOR ON BOARD

We aim to have a doctor on board during multi-day sailing trips. When a ship’s doctor is present, they are your first point of contact for any medical questions or health concerns.

SAFETY ON BOARD

During the welcome briefing, the captain and designated crew members will inform you about the safety procedures on board.

Please keep in mind that the ship is constantly in motion. As a result, items can tip over or slide, and doors can slam shut unexpectedly. Always stow your personal belongings securely and do not leave doors open unnecessarily. Never hold onto a door or doorframe when the door can move. Always follow the instructions of the crew.

Some countries require proof of vaccination for travellers wishing to enter or exit the country.
Travel requirements are updated often, so we recommend always checking the latest entry requirements before your trip.

Please note that you are responsible for staying informed about and complying with all travel advice and entry requirements for your journey to and from the ship. These arrangements fall entirely under your own responsibility.

We strongly recommend arriving at the port of embarkation one day prior to departure. This simple precaution ensures a stress-free start to your journey, as the ship must keep to its schedule and cannot delay departure in the event of travel delays.

Please keep in mind that unfavorable weather conditions (e.g., lack or excess wind) may cause the captain to decide to sail on engine power, enter or exit a port earlier/later.

This voyage is a luxury cruise, and we are committed to providing our guests with the highest level of service. Please note that while we strive to offer exceptional service, the weather may occasionally impact certain aspects of the sailing experience.

Clipper Stad Amsterdam is a member of SGR*. Within the limits of the SGR-guarantee arrangement, the multi-day trips published on this internet site are covered by the SGR-guarantee. This legally required guarantee means that consumers are assured that their prepaid travel money will be refunded if the other party (the shipping company) due to financial insolvency cannot fulfill the agreed performance. The travel prices on the website include a contribution to SGR.

As we anchor in bays, guests are transferred ashore by tender during island visits. You will board and disembark the tender from a platform. The movement of the ship and tender, combined with the swell, requires sufficient mobility, balance and physical stability.

You must be able to independently and safely step over a threshold approximately 60 cm high, move around aboard a moving vessel and board and disembark the tender. A reasonable level of general fitness and sufficient independent mobility are therefore essential.
