Deck Officer starting July 20, 2026

Clipper Stad Amsterdam sails worldwide as a passenger vessel under Dutch flag. She is an authentic, full rigged ship. The vessel has a tonnage of 723 GT and carries up to 2200m² of sail.

In July and August we’ll sail from Malaga via Brest back to the Netherlands. Then Ostend, London, Copenhagen and back to Amsterdam. After a short maintenance period we’ll cross the Atlantic via Gran Canaria to St. Maarten for the Caribbean season.

The Clipper is available for business events, luxury cruises and adventurous journeys for individuals. The crew consists of 30 enthusiastic professional sailors from 10-12 nationalities. The common language on board is English.

Your position as Deck Officer

  • The deck officer reports to the captain of the ship
  • Perform duties as third officer and is part of the ship’s management team
  • Watch-officer at sea (08:00 – 12:00; 20:00 – 24:00) and in turn officer on duty in port
  • Is responsible for safety equipment and safety log
  • Is responsible for organizing drills and exercises
  • Is authorized to use communication equipment
  • Is responsible for familiarization of new seafarers.
  • Is responsible for the administration of the rigging certificates.
  • Assists the Bosun with the maintenance administration.
  • Performs duties in the Emergency Response Team.

Your profile

  • Experience as an officer (> 1yr) on a traditional square-rigged Tall Ship
  • Valid CoC Officer in charge of a navigational watch (II/1) or preferably Chief Mate (II/2) (Not sailing-vessels CoC)
  • Valid STCW certificates: Basic Safety, Advanced Firefighting, Proficiency in survival craft and rescue boats, Medical First Aid, Designated Security Duties (or SSO), GMDSS, Radar Navigator; Crowd Management; Crisis Management and Human Behavior, Ecdis.
  • Valid seaman’s book and seafarer medical certificate worldwide
  • Good administration and organizational skills and ability to prioritize
  • Strong decision making, coaching and team building skills
  • Able to deal with stressful circumstances at all weather conditions
  • Proficient in Office Word and Excel
  • Proficient in the English language written and spoken

  • 1:1 work-leave schedule (6-8 weeks on/off; 193 days per year)

Hospitality Manager, starting August 15, 2026!

We are seeking a dynamic Hospitality Manager to lead our high-end onboard experience. Clipper Stad Amsterdam is a magnificent, full-rigged luxury passenger vessel flying the Dutch flag. In this role, you will oversee 14 luxury passenger cabins and a stunning Long Room, delivering five-star service for premium business events, elite corporate lunches, and exclusive luxury cruises. Working with an enthusiastic, international crew of 30 sailors (with English as the common language), you will bring world-class service to life across the globe.

Your spectacular ‘office’ continuously moves to its premier destination. From exclusive corporate events in Europe and the US to luxury cruises through the Caribbean and the Mediterranean. If you are an adventurous, meticulous hospitality professional ready to manage a premium guest experience on the high seas, we want you on board.

Your position on board

  • Manager of the hospitality department (service, galley and housekeeping)
  • Reports to: Captain
  • Performs duties in Emergency Response Team
  • Holds responsibility for the safety of the passengers during safety drills.
  • Ensures full compliance for HACCP and USPH hygiene aspects on board
  • Conducts performance evaluations and personal assessments of the hospitality crew.
  • Proactively develops initiatives to improve and safeguard the hospitality level
  • Collaborates with the chefs and sales department to develop tailored banqueting and catering proposals.
  • Oversees the general upkeep of both passenger and crew accommodations.

Profile

  • Management and workfloor experience (at least 1-2 years) in high-level hospitality
  • Educated in Hotel Management (intermediate MBO+ or higher HBO)
  • Service-minded, able to create a welcoming atmosphere for our passengers
  • Teamplayer with a flexible attitude able to adjust to our variety in programs (corporate, adventurous and luxury) and in all weather conditions
  • Strong communicative, coaching and teambuilding skills
  • Good administrational and organizational skills and ability to prioritize
  • Able to deal with stressful circumstances in all weather conditions
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and Google Workspace/Drive
  • Proficient in the English and Dutch language written and spoken and preferably also German, Spanish, French, Italian.
  • Preferably Holding valid certificates STCW Basic Safety, Security Awareness and Crowd Management; Crisis Management, Seaman’s book and Medical Certificate for seafarers.
