Practical information

Welcoming dinner in Martinique

The captain and his crew welcome you on board in Fort-de-France on the island of Martinique. This French island in the Caribbean Sea is part of the Windward Islands of the Lesser Antilles. It has some pristine tropical rainforests, sugar cane and banana fields, beautiful beaches and a number of nice towns which includes the capital Fort-de-France. On the first night of your sailing cruise  you will be enjoying a delicious welcoming dinner and refreshing drinks on deck.

Dominica

Early the next morning the sails will be set for the first time on this cruise. Later in the afternoon, we will drop anchor at Roseau located in the southwest of the island Dominica.

Dominica is the largest and most mountainous island of the Leeward Islands and with no doubt deserves the nickname 'nature island of the Caribbean'. Dominica is still untouched by mass tourism and hardly has any luxury resorts which is why she leaves a deep impression on each visitor. Considering her small size, there probably is no other island that has so much to offer. The next day there is plenty of time to explore this beautiful island.

After breakfast and a refreshing dive in the Caribbean sea, you may want to join Seacat, our guide, for an unforgettable trip around the island. Seacat will show you the different kinds of fruits and spices on the island and he will let you try them. You will visit his friends and he will take you to a natural pool underneath a waterfall in the jungle!

Meanwhile, the Clipper Stad Amsterdam will change berths and sail from Roseau to Portsmouth where you will embark the ship again. In case you decide to stay on board during the day you may opt for a boat trip through the mangroves on the Indian River in the afternoon. In the evening it is possible to go ashore to explore Portsmouth.

Iles des Saintes & Montserrat

The trip from Dominica to Iles des Saintes will be about 6 hours of sailing. This group of tropical islands is located just a few miles from Guadeloupe. Of the eight little islands only two are inhabited. 'Iles des Saints' offers splendid beaches, beautiful bays and exceptional snorkeling spots close to 'Pain de sucre', the most famous mountain on the island. There also is a fort, a turtle recover center and a charming French colonial village to visit.

The next morning before breakfast we will leave for our next destination: Montserrat. Depending on the weather you will experience some sailing manoeuvres on the way while enjoying delicious snacks and drinks on deck. There often is a good northeasterly wind. It is this wind that makes this part of the Caribbean such a popular sailing area. Enjoy the sailing qualities of the Clipper Stad Amsterdam and experience how challenging sailing in lee of islands can be.

The Saturday will be dedicated to an extended visit to this beautiful island. At the east coast of Montserrat there is a lookout point called Jack Boy Hill. From the platform that is 65 meter high the view of the Soufrière volcano will take your breath away. With some regularity this volcano still bursts. In one of the tours we offer, you can learn all about the volcano and take a look at Plymouth, the buried city, viewed from the Montserrat Springs hotel. Or you may want to visit the botanical gardens or visit the Montserrat historical museum in Little Bay.

Late in the evening we will be leaving Montserrat and set sail to 'Nevis' where we plan to arrive in the morning after a full night sailing.

Nevis

After breakfast and your daily swim around the ship, a visit to the British Caribbean island Nevis is on the program. Exploring the capital Charlestown, or a visit to an old plantation or hiking through the rainforest are a few of the activities to choose from. Relaxing for a few hours on a white sandy beach is a possibility.

On the way to Saint Kitts

Since Nevis and the island of St. Kitts (Saint Christopher) are only separated from each other by a three kilometer wide strait 'The Narrows', it will only take a short time to sail to our next destination.

After dropping anchor in White House Bay which is a great snorkel paradise, you can enjoy the crystal clear water, the beautiful sandy beach and a delicious dinner served by our chefs. The bar on deck will be open until late this night for a refreshing cocktail, glass of wine or beer.

St. barths & Saint Martin

Before arriving at our final destination Saint Martin, there will be one more stop at the island of Saint-Barthélemy or Saint Barths in short. This island, which is about three hours sailing from Saint Martin, is a favorite holiday destination for many celebrities from around the world. Therefore the island is often referred to as the 'St.Tropez of the Caribbean'. The island has a mix of iguanas, cacti that bloom only at night, beautiful beaches and luxury yachts, but the special designer boutiques in Gustavia will probably attract the most attention. If the weather is good enough, a visit to 'turle bay' may be possible as well. At St. Barths we will celebrate your last night on board with a Captain's dinner.

The Clipper Stad Amsterdam will sail to Philipsburg at Saint Martin early in the morning and at 10h00 it will be time to disembark.

We hope the experience on board has been unforgettable!
