Practical Information

Sailing to Chastenet at St. Lucia

On the island of Martinique the captain and his crew welcome you on board and a delicious welcoming dinner is served soon after your arrival. Your very first night on board will be spend near Martinique's capital city Fort-de-France.

In the morning we set sail for the very first time. Our first destination will be Chastenet on the island St Lucia, where we plan to arrive late afternoon after sailing for about 6 hours nonstop. Here you can take a refreshing dive in the crystal clear water.

On this first day you will experience why the Caribbean is such a popular sailors' destination and how relaxing life on the Clipper Stad Amsterdam really is. While the crew keeps the ship on course, delicious snacks and drinks will be served on deck. All prepared especially for you by our chefs in his galley.

A day at St. Lucia

The mountainous island St. Lucia has a very pleasant climate, the nature on the island is beautiful and lush and the white sand beaches are stunning. The area around the village of Soufriere in the southwest and the volcanic plugs 'The Pitons' are outstanding in beauty.

During the day you can visit some of the beautiful spots the island has to offer by taking part in an island tour. Enjoy the protected National Park at Pigeon Island which has a great archaeological and historical value, visit a rum distillery or go to the largest banana plantation on the island. From the beautiful fishing village of Soufrière you have a beautiful view of the two famous Pitons 'peaks'. Would you rather relax on a beautiful beach? That will be a perfect alternative of course.

Off to Bequia

Late in the evening departure is planned for our next destination Bequia where we shall arrive around lunch time the next day.

This beautiful island in the Caribbean is known for the typical brightly colored fishing boats and houses. Bequia is the largest island in the Grenadines covering an area of 18 square kilometers. From a political point of view it belongs to Saint Vincent and the Grenadines with Port Elizabeth as the capital and English is the official language.

Bequia has beautiful sandy beaches, popular diving spots and there is a very special turtle farm where turtles are hatched and cared for. When they are matured enough they are brought to the sea. An excursion to the fort can be organized as well. The island is known for its delicious lobsters offered by local fishermen. Watch the sun setting at the Frangipani bar and enjoy a delicious dinner on board prepared for you by our chefs.

Time to explore Tobago Cays

On our way to Tobago Cays, the first stop after about six hours sailing will be the beautiful little bay with a lovely sandy beach at Mayreau. This island, which only covers 75 square meters and has about 300 inhabitants, has a special local atmosphere. Stroll from Salt Whistle Bay to Salina Bay for a relaxing moment.

From Mayreau to Tobago Cays it's only about half an hour sailing the next morning. The archipelago has no inhabitants and is an excellent spot for diving or snorkeling. Here you can enjoy the crystal clear water, the beautiful corals and the various exotic fish such as red snappers and rays, blow fish and parrot fish.

On a paradise beach a delicious barbecue is provided for by our chefs. In the evening there will be a small party on board.

Volcanic Island St. Vincent

Already before breakfast is served we will leave for the volcanic island of St. Vincent and enjoy some active sailing on the way. Arrival will be later in the afternoon. Some of the beaches on this green island consist of black volcanic sand. For a dozen or so meters the coastline is flat to become much steeper in the direction of the volcano Soufrière.

The next day you will be able to explore the island on a special tour. A visit to St. Vincent's capital city Kingstown is definitely worth considering and Wallilabou Bay is almost a must! In this bay parts of the movie 'The Pirates of The Caribbean' were filmed.

Back to Martinique

In the evening we will say goodbye to St. Vincent and we will be on our way to Martinique. It will take all night and morning to sail and reach the beautiful bay of Grand Anse. Here we will drop our anchor.

Today you may want to go swimming or perhaps you like to visit the shops and restaurants at the nearby boulevard. With a captains dinner on deck we will celebrate our very last evening together.

Early the next morning we will sail a short distance to the port of Fort-de-France where we will have to say goodbye at 10.00 am.

We hope this cruise has been an unforgettable experience!
