Experience the best of this Caribbean archipelago

Every year in wintertime several luxury Caribbean sailing cruises are organized on board the square-rigged tall ship Clipper Stad Amsterdam. Whether you are an experienced sailor or not, we are more than pleased to invite you to join us on one of our luxury sailing holidays in the Caribbean.

Sail with us on this 11-day luxury Christmas and New Year cruise.

On Thursday, December 23rd the captain and his crew welcome you on board the Clipper Stad Amsterdam. After a tasty welcome dinner on board and a good night's sleep, we will sail to Saint-Barthélemy - St. Barths in short - the next morning. An island that is not part of the British Virgin Islands.

Christmas Eve at Saint-Barthélemy

Depending on the wind and 'swell' conditions on the spot and the COVID-19 regulations, sailing will be according to the following program:

Saint-Barthélemy is only a short sailing distance from Saint Martin. The island contains a mix of iguanas, cacti that bloom only at night, beautiful beaches, luxury yachts and designer boutiques. Saint Barths is also called the St.Tropez of the Caribbean. You can spend the day swimming and snorkelling or you can visit Gustavia, the island's capital.
In the evening a delicious Christmas dinner is served on deck and from the ship, you have a great view of the island of St. Barths.
A beautiful setting for a special Christmas Eve!

After having enjoyed a very special Christmas breakfast the next morning, there is some more time for swimming and snorkelling. In the afternoon the Clipper Stad Amsterdam will set sail for the British Virgin Islands! After enjoying a very special Christmas breakfast the next morning, there is still some time for swimming and snorkelling. In the afternoon, the Clipper Stad Amsterdam sets sail for the British Virgin Islands! The rest of this day you are at sea to enjoy the sailing.

Virgin Gorda

Virgin Gorda will be the first British Virgin Island to be explored on this special Christmas and New Years cruise.
In the afternoon we will visit the natural phenomenon of the Baths on Virgin Gorda. This is a volcanic and 70 million years old area, consisting of a maze of mainly underwater caves. Crystal clear water, white sands and huge cliffs with various salty water basins in between to bathe in.

We will stay overnight in Virgin Gorda and sail to the island of Anegada the next morning.

We will arrive in Anegada at the end of the afternoon after a few hours of active sailing. The ship anchors here in very shallow water and because it is a flat island you can enjoy a special turquoise coloured water that can normally only be seen close to the white beach. This evening dinner will be served on board.

The name Anegada which means 'sunken land' comes from the fact that the island does not owe its existence to a volcanic eruption and is a lot more flat than the surrounding islands. The highest point is only 8.5 meters above the sea. Anegada has about 200 inhabitants, most of whom live in the largest city of the island: 'The Settlement'. Delicious fresh lobsters, beautiful reefs for snorkelling, bird watching at the salt ponds and a meeting with flamingos are some of the activities that you can do on this island. We will spend several hours on this island the next day.

Cooper Island & Norman Island

From Anegada, this sailing trip continues the next day to Cooper Island where we arrive in the afternoon. Cooper Island is one in a string of small islands and is largely privately owned. The beautiful white sandy beach, wonderful snorkelling possibilities and a cosy beach club will make your stay on this island in the afternoon and evening very enjoyable.

The next morning it is quite a few hours of (wonderful) sailing from Cooper Island to Norman Island. Norman Island is the most southern island of the British Virgin Islands. The island has no inhabitants and is privately owned. We arrive late in the afternoon and after a nice dinner on the deck, you can visit a cosy Caribbean beach bar in the evening.

New Year's Eve at Jost van Dyke

On New Year's Eve, a sailing trip to Jost van Dyke is scheduled. The passage at Soper's Hole on the way will certainly be a highlight. The narrow passage always is a very exciting experience for a tallship like Clipper Stad Amsterdam.
In the afternoon, after lunch, we will drop anchor at Jost Van Dyke.
The island of Jost Van Dyke roughly covers eight square kilometres and is one of the smallest of the British Virgin Islands. It is believed that the island owes her name to the Dutch pirate Joost van Dyk. In the afternoon you can enjoy swimming and snorkelling and the white sandy beach.
New Year's Eve will be celebrated with a captain's dinner on the deck in the evening and later on, we will visit Foxy's Bar for a memorable New Year's Eve party. This world-famous beach bar serves delicious homemade rum. It promises to be a fantastic end of the year party!

New Year's Day at Sandy Cay

On January 1st the Clipper will sail to Sandy Cay, an uninhabited island paradise.

This picturesque little island with its white-sand beaches and beautiful palm trees is set in the clearest turquoise-coloured water only found in the Caribbean. Here you can relax from all the festivities of the previous evening while enjoying the sun or perhaps do some swimming. This is also the last stop on this British Virgin Isles cruise. In the afternoon the Clipper leaves for Sint Maarten to arrive at Phillipsburg after breakfast the next morning At 10.00 crew and guests have to say goodbye.

We hope you had a pleasant stay with us!
