February 7 - 17, 2022

As an international passenger ship, the Clipper Stad Amsterdam is bound by the measures prescribed by the Dutch government and the measures that apply worldwide onboard international passenger ships.

We offer you a 100% refund guarantee concerning the travel sum paid to us if it would not be possible to carry out the trip or if other unforeseen COVID-19-related situations of force majeure occur, which would force us to cancel the trip.

Adventurous Sailing in the Caribbean

Several sailing trips are organized by the Clipper Stad Amsterdam every year. Whether you are an experienced sailor or not, we are more than pleased to invite you to join our crew on one of these adventurous or luxury sailing holidays.

On this adventure onboard Clipper Stad Amsterdam, you will be sailing in the Caribbean from the island of St. Maarten located north of Anguilla along a string of islands such as St. Kitts, Antigua, Guadeloupe, Dominica, Martinique, St. Vincent, Grenada and Bonaire to Curacao! You will cover about 800 nautical miles in about 9 days on this trip, enjoying the sun and wonderful temperatures, beautiful coastlines, one or two breathtaking bays and hours of sailing pleasure.

Practical information

Blue Water sailing

The Clipper will be ready for this spectacular "blue water sailing" voyage on the morning of February 8th, hoping to reach high boat speeds under full sail supported by the northeast trade winds.
Imagine standing on the lookout surrounded by nothing but the sea. Become skilled in setting the sails or being a lookout. Or climb the highest mast to be rewarded with a truly magnificent view. On this non-stop sailing trip you possibly spend one or two nights at anchor in one or two breathtaking bays.

The meals are enjoyed together with the crew in the longroom at times adjusted to the watches. Every night the captain will give a short briefing of the mileage achieved on a preceding day, the mileage still to go and any other points of interest.

Sailing and watches

The ship’s crew stand watch in three shifts. These shifts are called the Red Watch (from 12- 4 AM and PM), the White Watch (from 4-8 AM and PM) and the Blue Watch (from 8-12 AM and PM).

We welcome you to join one of these watches. This way you can fully experience how things work on board a tall ship such as the Stad Amsterdam. Setting or furling the sails, keeping the lookout, setting the course or standing watch: you can participate in all of it.

As a member of the Red Watch you can enjoy the peacefulness of being at sea and the endless starry sky. In the White Watch you will experience the break of dawn like you never did before, whilst in the Blue Watch you can enjoy the sailing while maintaining a regular day and night rhythm.

Destination Curaçao

This special sailing adventure will come to end on Thursday, February 17th in Willemstad on the island of Curaçao, where the captain and his crew have to say goodbye to you. The island has many wonderful sights (Punda, Otrabanda, the famous pontoon bridge, the Pietermaai District, the Shete Boka nature park, the Christoffelberg, just to name a few), you can enjoy delicious food and there are the most beautiful beaches with ideal swimming and snorkelling opportunities.

We hope that you have enjoyed this special adventurous trip on board the Clipper and that the experience was an unforgettable one.

Clipper Stad Amsterdam & COVID-19
We hereby like to inform you that the safety of our guests and our crew is of the highest priority and that we follow up closely with all of the developments and the measures taken by the Dutch government concerning the coronavirus.
In the context of the prevention of contamination with the COVID-19 (corona) virus, the Clipper Stad Amsterdam as an international passenger ship is bound by the measures prescribed by the Dutch government and the measures that apply worldwide onboard international passenger ships.
To create a safe and responsible environment onboard - where keeping a distance of 1.5 meters is not always possible - sailing is only possible for guests and crew with a vaccination certificate and a valid negative PCR test (note: any costs are for your account).*
Full vaccination 2 weeks before the start of the trip is mandatory for participation in this trip. To gain access to the ship, you must also have a negative result of a PCR test with an international travel certificate or a NAAT (PCR) test with an international travel certificate and not older than 72 hours. Please note that an antigen rapid test (with or without an international travel certificate) will not suffice.
In unforeseen COVID-19-related situations involving force majeure, we offer a 100% refund guarantee concerning the travel sum paid to us. For all other - non-COVID - reasons to cancel, our usual terms and conditions apply.

Travel insurance
Taking out travel insurance is mandatory at all times on all our sailing trips. The mandatory travel insurance to be taken out by you must, in addition to, cover for medical costs, accidents, and repatriation (article 13.9 of the general terms and conditions) also cover all COVID-19 related medical costs. When you take out your travel insurance please make sure that these costs are indeed covered.

Unfavourable weather conditions & maintenance
Please note that due to unfavourable weather conditions (e.g. lack of wind or too much wind) the captain may decide to proceed under engine power and/or arrive at or depart from a harbour either sooner or later. During our adventurous sailing trips, the crew of the Stad Amsterdam is also occupied with the continuous maintenance program of the Clipper. A part of life on board of the Tall Ships as well. Should you wish to help, this is welcome but certainly not a must.

Flight suggestions:
Please be advised that you must at all times be aware of and act by the travel advice and the corona measures that apply when you are travelling to and from the ship. Travelling to the ship and/or home is your responsibility.
There are many flight opportunities from major European airports and worldwide for very attractive prices to St. Maarten and from Curacao.
