Adventurous sailing Hamburg - Rotterdam

September 22 - September 25, 2017

This sailing trip has taken place from in September, 2017. Are you curious about the sailing trips we currently offer? Every year a number of adventure sailing trips are organized by the Clipper Stad Amsterdam. Whether you are an experienced sailor or not, we are more than pleased to invite you to join our crew on one of these adventures. You can find more information about our adventurous sailing holidays on our website.

On the North Sea

This short sailing trip begins in the bustling heart of Hamburg where you will meet the captain and his international crew near the famous "Überseebrucke". Within two hours we will leave the port of Hamburg to sail on the Elbe river in the direction of the North Sea. Once at open sea your sailing adventure will really start!

You are invited to help and set sails on deck or perhaps help out at a somewhat higher position in one of the three masts. Maybe you prefer feeling the wind in your hair on the foredeck while you are enjoying all the beauty that lays ahead.
On board the Clipper Stad Amsterdam there are many possibilities! With her 76 meters in length, 31 sails and 2200 m2 of sail this sailing ship will certainly impress you.

Port of Rotterdam

After an extended weekend of sailing the Clipper Stad Amsterdam will arrive at Europe's largest port located at the Dutch city of Rotterdam. From the water the view of this busy harbour is most spectacular as is the sight of the imposing skyline as well.

At walking distance from the famous Erasmus bridge, a 284 meter long bridge with a 139-meter high asymmetric steel pylon, our captain and his crew will say goodbye to you on the morning of September 25th.

We hope you experienced a sailing trip which will not easily be forgotten

Sailing and watches

The ship’s crew stand watch in three shifts. These shifts are called the Red Watch (from 12- 4 AM and PM), the White Watch (from 4-8 AM and PM) and the Blue Watch (from 8-12 AM and PM).

We welcome you to join one of these watches. This way you can fully experience how things work on a ship like the Stad Amsterdam. Setting or furling the sails, keeping lookout, setting the course or standing watch: you can participate in all of it.

As a member of the Red Watch you can enjoy the peacefulness of being at sea and the endless starry sky. In the White Watch you will experience the break of dawn like you never did before, whilst in the Blue Watch you can enjoy the sailing while maintaining a regular day and night rhythm.

An unforgettable experience

The meals are enjoyed together with the crew in the longroom at times adjusted to the watches. Every night the captain will give a short briefing of the mileage achieved on the day before, the mileage still to go and any other points of interest.

Imagine standing on the lookout surrounded by nothing but the sea. The waves, being rough every now and then, maybe some other ships and sometimes even dolphins playfully dancing just ahead of the bow. On the other hand, one could also relax reading a book in the long room. We have a well-stocked library on board.

Altogether ingredients for an unforgettable experience!
