Travel Guide

Preparation

No specific preparation is needed for passengers on board the Clipper Stad Amsterdam. However, we advise you to be well-rested. Please ensure to wear comfortable warm shoes and warm, waterproof clothing. It is always some degrees cooler at sea than on land. You are advised to take out travel insurance and to inform relatives about your travel dates and destination.

Passport

The Stad Amsterdam is a registrered passenger vessel. Therefore you are required to show a photo ID upon embarkation (even for domestic trips). With your pasport as ID you are always ensured to have the appropiate documents available.

Arrive on time

To ensure an efficient departure it is important to time your arrival at the quay correctly. Arriving to early might cause a delay in your embarkation as the ship may not be prepared yet. When arriving late you risk missing the vessel's departure.

Sea sickness

Sea sickness might occur during your first day or first few days at sea. It is not serious and will disappear on its own accord. Although it is impossible to know wether or not it will effect you, there are some of pre-cautions you may take to reduce the risk of getting sea sick. Avoid fatigue, hunger and cold. In addition you can minimise your consumption of coffee and alcohol. There is medication available to help against sea sickness. You may obtain these from your pharmacy or chemist. Normally there will be a doctor on board during trips more than one day. During day trips the First Mate is responsible for medical attention. Your contact person for these, and all other matters, is the Hospitality Manager.

Safety

The Clipper Stad Amsterdam complies with the strict requirements which Lloyd's Registrer and the Shipping Inspectorate of The Netherlands imposes on passenger vessels. Please have your own safety in mind while on board.
