10 Days Island Hopping from Martinique

Do you like both sailing and a visit to a tropical island? Then this is the perfect trip for you!

 Day 1:  Arrival
Martinique is a slice of France set down in the tropics. Islanders wear Parisian fashion and eat croissants. Bars and nightclubs will remind you, however, that Martinicans have a culture of their own, solidly based on West Indian Creole traditions. On board of the Clipper Stad Amsterdam you will be welcomed by the captain and his crew.

Day 2:  Sailing
Today you will sail with the Clipper from Martinique to St. Vincent. St Vincent and the Grenadines form a multi-island nation; the 30 islands and cays that comprise the Grenadines are among the most popular cruising grounds in the Caribbean. They are surrounded by coral reefs and clear blue waters ideal for diving, snorkelling and boating. Fewer than a dozen are inhabited, and even these are lightly populated and barely developed.

Day 3:  St. Vincent
This day you can enjoy St. Vincent. After breakfast you can go ashore to visit the famous fish market, the rum shops and the stone-block colonial buildings. There are many good hikes on St Vincent, including the Vermont Nature Trails and the more challenging trek up the La Soufrière volcano, which passes through banana estates and rainforest. Weather permitting, a view of the crater awaits you at the summit.

Bequia

Day 4:  Sailing
After a day ashore it is time to sail again: from St. Vincent to Bequia. In the evening we will anchor in the Admiralty Bay and you can go ashore at this unspoiled Caribbean island and get a cocktail in the famous Frangipani Bar. We will stay in this bay for the night

Day 5:  Bequia

Just seven square miles in size, but with a real life of its own, this exquisite Caribbean jewel is the first link in the chain known as the Grenadines that runs between the two island states of St. Vincent and Grenada. Bequia´s main harbour is Admirality Bay, with Port Elizabeth at its head. In the morning there is a guided island tour. You can visit the turtle farm and the fort. The afternoon is for swimming and snorkelling.

Day 6:  Sailing
Once again a wonderful day at sea: sailing from Bequia to St. Lucia. In the evening the Clipper will anchor at Soufrière, where we will spend the night.

Day 7:  St. Lucia
Much of St. Lucia is rural: small coastal fishing villages give way to a hinterland of banana and coconut plantations folded within deep valleys topped by rich, mountainous jungle.  Soufrière, with its very old English styled buildings, is worth a visit. The guided tour will take you to the market of Castries and the botanical gardens.

Day 8:  Sailing
Today we will sail from St. Lucia to Martinique. Around sun set we will arrive at the quite bay of Grand Anse, where you will enjoy the tropical atmosphere on board the Clipper Stad Amsterdam.

Day 9:  Martinique
In the morning the Clipper will sail  the short distance from Grand Anse to the other side of the island. The rest of the day can be spend on Martinique. Urbanization has spread to much of the island, and most of Martinique's large towns feel like modern suburbs. Nevertheless, nearly a third of Martinique is forested and other areas are given over to pineapples, bananas and sugar cane fields.

Day 10:  Departure
This is the end of the voyage. Today the Clipper crew will say good buy to you in Fort the France, Martinique.
