Bulletinboard Radar

During our journey to Cape Town our officers experienced difficulties with our radar, the screen deformed. A mechanic in Cape Town could fix it, but with no guarantees beyond 20 miles from the Table Mountain. Along the coast of Namibia the screen deformed again, had some stuttering, but at least kept functioning. Trying to spare the device as much as possible to prolong its lifespan, we only used it when indispensible.
By now a new radar is purchased and will be installed as soon as possible. The radar screen had degraded into a bulletin board yesterday. After the evening watch the memo covering the screen of the radar had to be discarded to actively use the radar again due to the weather circumstances. For now the radar is working and there’s not even holes in the screen…
