Ten years!

It is June 1st, 2010. Ten years ago our vessel was christened, so today we celebrate her anniversary. The actual festivities for this event are postponed until this Fall in Amsterdam, allowing all those involved with the Clipper to join in. But we felt we needed to do something today as well. That explains the big cake and flags on our main deck. Dylon opened the event by firing the ship’s canon.
Together with the ship we have another anniversary today: Simon Devey. He is the only remaining crew member from the very beginning. Reason for a celebration, so our English cook got a breakfast in bed (or bunk, as we say on board). Bosun Fritz made pancakes for lunch and Abe and Milou opened “Pizzeria Clipperini” treating our chef on a day of. But Simon couldn’t be chased out of his galley. He put his cook’s jacket on and prompted the pancake and pizza bakers ensuring the food wasn’t presented half finished in the crew mess. Eventually even the cake was made by the chef himself.
