No fireworks

To start where the last PIM ended; we were just too late to see the activity of the volcano on the Island Stromboli by darkness. The sun stood a little above the horizon so no fireworks could be seen. After all we had our doubts if anything could have been seen by darkness because the only activity that we experienced were a few small blows of smoke.
In order to be on time at Cannes a lot of fuel had to be used. There came hardly a opportunity to use the wind because the moments it blew enough it came right on the nose most of the time. During the windless periods there were a few moments where the wind picked up out of an unexpected direction but mostly not longer then the time we needed to set enough sail and brace to the wind. Many times the effort was ‘rewarded’ by turning of the wind on the bow or drop away entirely again. We don’t wonder why we see mostly motor yachts on the Mediterranean Sea and sailing yachts appear far less popular.
