Lütte Sail Bremerhaven
It is already a day that we experience the air of baked sausages at partying Bremerhaven. The event is called ‘Lütte Sail’ which means ‘small sail’. In two years the big sail event will be here, just like in our homeport Amsterdam. A few days ago we were still in our own country during a similar happening at Den Helder. Here it was the first time that since the existence of the sister ships the Stad Amsterdam and Cisne Branco laid alongside each other, a unique picture. The commanding officer of the Brazilian ship thought it was worth to have a drink on the occasion and let one of his officers cut of the head of a champagne bottle with a sword.
The trip from the haring wagon to the sausage stand was one under perfect wind circumstances from the sailor’s point of view. This offered the crew and twenty eight passengers the possibility of a night off on the Island Helgoland, a nice change between two loud partying cities.
