Moored in Warnemuende
This morning we have arrived in Warnemuende. This Coastal resort which is strategically situated at the mouth of the river Warnow has been the gate to the land inward situated port of Rostock. Rostock is known for it’s historic buildings which were developed during the Hanse trading era in the middle ages. After the ‘Wende’ in 1989, the formerly isolated east of Germany started developing the same passion for maritime history and sailing ships that was already present in the Western part of the country.
The Rostock Hanse Sail festival has developed into one of the best organized maritime events in Europe; all sailing vessels small or big are welcomed with a smile but for the Clipper Stad Amsterdam the welcome is even better. This is the first visit of the Clipper at this event and, after being here for just one day, we can conclude that it will definitely not be our last.
