On Fathers day our son handed us an envelop that contained a brochure of the Clipper Stad Amsterdam together with a voucher for a trip for two persons from IJmuiden to Kiel. He had won this trip but was not able to join because of obligations in the USA. Years ago we had read about the building of this ship but that it would be possible to join on one of her voyages was unknown to us.
We left on Sunday evening after a thorough look in and around the ship, in one word: beautiful. The calm seas meant that it took a while before we were able to sail, but once this was possible our admiration for this ship and her crew grew bigger and bigger!
What a great experience to be able to join sailing on this ship. “Cheers” to the crew and the service brought! Beautiful weather meant sometimes: no wind, but the sun was definitely a positive force in the way we experienced this journey.
