Underway from IJmuiden to Kiel (Germany)
After the hard work setting the sails yesterday, a constant easterly wind brings us toward the north with speeds up to nine knots. We, the blue watch, enjoy ourselves sincerely: standing lookout, steering (keeping the ship on the right course all by yourself), help out with the sails and polishing the brass.
We will eventually, due to the changing of the wind, have to use some engine unfortunately. The guests got a little celestial navigation course this morning and afterwards the found results were put in the chart. Our ship’s doctor Boy was close to our real position with a deviation of just 10 miles. Fortunately there was enough water around us so that formed no problem. Despite the wind the sea state is very calm so no seasickness patients have been reported yet…
Because of the sunny weather some deckchairs have been put out on the aft deck, they are being occupied by sun worshippers constantly. All this combined with the excellent service and the good food makes that the guests feel like real cruise passengers!
