Lisbon to Rouen
If the wind refuses to come towards the Clipper, the Clipper should come towards the wind.
Yesterday morning we had enough of steaming against the steady northern wind so we decided to set the sails on starboard tack and sail west north west. On the other tack we would sail into the Bay of Biscay where the wind seem to stay away because a high pressure system likes to settle here.
A day under canvas results in smiling faces and a position on the Atlantic ocean where we can find the high pressure east of us and with that a useful wind. Meanwhile we are motor sailing through a ridge of the high pressure system and hope to be able to sail again tomorrow morning after the investment by heading west. We’ll see tomorrow.
