Message from the Captain

After finishing a great Caribbean sailing season and attending the Carnival in Trinidad, the Clipper went to the dry dock in the Dominican Republic. Being brought to first class condition, the Clipper will visit some ports in the United States.

The United States will be the last tour of Duty for captain Cosmo Wassenaar, after 3 ½ years he will leave the company to be home more often and to explore new challenges. We thank Cosmo, in behalf of the crew, for his effort and enthusiasm and we wish him all the best for the future.

Taking over from Cosmo is captain Andi Manser from Switzerland. He has a long history as captain on the Topsail Schooner “Jacob Meindert” and the Brigantine “Swan fan Makkum”. He will use his experience to take over from Cosmo when the ship will leave the port of Boston.

From Boston we will leave for a three-week ocean crossing to arrive in Sunny Faro, Portugal in the beginning of May. After that the Clipper will head for Barcelona and Monaco, where our guests will be witnessing the Grand Prix. In May the ship offers a seven-day trip from Nice to Siracusa where places are still available! From Siracusa on we will be chartered by various events in Italy and Spain.

At the end of June the Clipper will sail back to the Netherlands to be in time for Delfsail 2009. When this event ends the Clipper will start her first voyage around the World, following the footsteps of Charles Darwin during his journey with the Beagle. You can read more about this voyage in this Clipper Journal.

We have a great season ahead of us; we hope to welcome you on board soon!
