The ship has modern communication equipment on board, but its capabilities are more limited than on the shore. Telephone and e-mail communication is possible per satellite.
During office hours e-mails are forwarded to and from the ship by the shipping company. Please note a message may not contain more than 75kB (no attachments) and should clearly state the name of the receiver. The charge is € 1.25 per e-mail. E-mail for passengers can be sent to: ship@stadamsterdam.nl.
The network range of mobile phones is limited to a distance of about three miles from the shore, beyond this, telephone calls are only possible via satellite at a rate of € 6.50 per minute. In case of an emergency, telephone calls may, during office hours, be put through by the office of the shipping company. For emergency calls outside office hours, there is a special emergency number, which is stated in your travel documents.
